  • New Library Furniture Installed!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Tillotson-Menlo Foundation, the SMS Library Media Center has received all new furniture. The new furniture is learning-commons-style, meaning that it is flexible. The new tables are easily moved into new formations because they are on wheels. Student seating includes lightweight chairs at the tables, a grouping of 4 modern reading chairs, and cube-style benches and stools for flexible grouping. The grant also funded the purchase of a presenter's chair. There are plans to continue to modernize the library media center by adding a new presenter's podium with funds from the Scholastic book fair, as well as plans to update the presentation technology in the space. A special thank you to the Ernie Morris Company, as well, for their support with design and installation.

  • Mrs. Green named CCS District Teacher of the Year

Summerville Middle School is proud to announce that our very own Emily Green has been named Chattooga County School District's Teacher of the Year. We can think of no teacher more worthy to represent educators that Mrs. Green. She works enthusiastically to engage students in community-based learning, project-based initiatives, and authentic tasks that empower them to understand the needs of the community and to take action. Under her guidance, our FFA chapter and its officers have excelled. We are grateful for all she does for and with our students. Congratulations, Mrs. Green, on an honor well-deserved.
